Kaiser Permanente Diagnostic Imaging Systems Services Engineer II in Woodland Hills, California

Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, service and maintain a variety of diagnostic imaging systems such as but not limited to; x-ray systems, ultrasound systems, gamma cameras, film digitizers, which convert analog images to electronic data, and associated equipment such as laser imagers, dry process imagers, image spoolers, gateways and image workstations. Have the ability to use a variety of test equipment in the repair of this equipment such as; oscilloscopes, multi-meters and laptop computers running diagnostic programs. Supervision Received and Exercised: This position is supervised by the Imaging Systems Service Manager, and may receive daily direction from their Senior Imaging Systems Service Engineer.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform emergency service, routine preventive maintenance, and acceptance testing on all diagnostic imaging systems, electronic image transfer systems and associated equipment.

  • Coordinate technical service problems with their Senior Imaging Systems Service Engineer or Service Manager for determination of need of vendor service or assistance.

  • Maintain adequate parts inventory for the repair and service of diagnostic imaging systems, electronic image transfer systems and associated equipment.

  • Monitor and/or assist in the installations of diagnostic imaging systems, electronic image transfer systems and associated equipment.

  • Configure a variety of systems to allow diagnostic imaging studies to be transferred onto Kaiser Permanente's digital imaging environment.

  • Maintain service records through MITI's regional dispatch system.

  • Maintain tools and test equipment required for assigned duties.

  • Travel throughout the Southern California Region is required.

  • Work extended hours when required for superior customer service.

  • Perform other assigned duties as required by the Imaging Systems Service Manager.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in field service of x-ray systems maintenance.


  • Associate in applied science in electronics OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Must have and maintain valid California drivers' license.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be capable of communicating with professional medical personnel, extensive travel, and extended working hours.

  • Must have average written communication skills.

  • A personal vehicle is required for company business.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or eligibility of certification by AAMI as Certified Biomedical Electronic Technician preferred.
