Kaiser Permanente Manager Pharmacy Program - Anticoagulation in Renton, Washington

Responsibilities include assisting pharmacy leadership in the planning, development and implementation of managed care products, programs and services related to a specific area of Pharmacy services, generally on a state-wide basis. May also be responsible for leading a team of Pharmacy professionals in achieving divisional goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead assigned program, which may include refining the role of the Clinical Pharmacist, strategizing to improve statewide cost and efficiency with Medication Use Management, Drug Information and/or state-wide medication safety. Monitors vendor performance. Managers with direct reports provide leadership and direction to staff including hiring, evaluating development, mentoring and coaching.

  • Track, analyze and evaluate data, assess resources and develop systems/tools to meet program needs and improve program satisfaction.

  • Chair and/or participate as a member of appropriate KFHPW and external cross functional committees, for example Consultative Specialty Services Leadership, Medication Safety, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Medication Use Management, and/or Network services committees.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with key partners and providers to meet organizational objectives. Accountable to develop and implement strategies in pharmacy to help meet organizational population clinical quality targets.

  • Design, implement and monitor systems and process improvements.

Additional Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead clinical pharmacy operations in delivering anticoagulation management services,

  • Lead development and maintenance of care teams processes to ensure safe patient care and positive outcomes.

  • Lead strategic development and design of programs and initiatives to improve related quality metrics, patient safety outcomes and drug spend, while meeting operating targets.

  • Lead operational optimization of clinical programs to meet business goals, including productivity and ROI targets.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in a health care-related field with clinical pharmacy, marketing, finance, product strategy and/or managed care responsibilities.

Education

  • PharmD OR a minimum eight (8) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Washington State Pharmacy license by date of hire/transfer.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in program specialty which may include medical literature evaluation; medication safety; and Medication Use Management.

  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft standard suite of software including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; project management skills.

  • Able to organize multiple projects, collaborate effectively and lead groups to accomplish desired results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree: completion of PGY1 residency.

  • Masters in health administration or other advanced administrative degree.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong ability to operationalize care team processes for anticoagulation management services (or related services).

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting/leading operations for an anticoagulation management service for a health system.

  • Experience using DAWN AC and/or Epic Anticoagulation Management Software. Experience supervising staff.

Preferred License:

  • Board Certification
