Department Functions:

Strategic Market Planning & Execution provides analytical, project management, and strategic consulting services program-wide. More specifically, the department

  • Provides strategy consulting for lines of businesses, including Large Commercial (CA Only), Small Group, Individual & Family, Medicare, and Special Programs (CA Only)

  • Consults on the development of national rate setting and strategic plan materials, while directly leading and/or supporting rate setting and strategic plan development in CA

  • Supports the execution of line of business strategies

  • Provides ad hoc support for strategic projects for all regions.

Department Intern Responsibilities:

Our department has several potential projects that can be described by the below description, including local market and business line strategy. Multiple projects that could use support from an intern are ongoing at any one time. Under the direct supervision of one of our internal Consultants, the Intern will work on market assessment and strategy development. Activities may include:

  • Membership, product and financial analysis: data gathering, presentation and analysis of results

  • Market & competitor research

  • Project management and tracking

    Essential Functions:

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.

  • Report development and analytics.

  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.

  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A.

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA or above

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.

  • Masters in Public Health
