Kaiser Permanente Business Analyst Masters Internship in Oakland, California

Department Functions:

National Supplier Diversity

  • Support of two high-visibility projects dealing with economic impact

  • Supplier pipeline Product Distribution Channel

  • Economic Impact - developing a methodology to link economic impacts of Kaiser Permanente-s procurement to health outcomes

  • Analyze our current economic impact results

  • Identify opportunities

  • Develop recommendations about how we can leverage our procurement activities to increase economic impact in the communities we serve

Supplier pipeline - working with suppliers interested in doing business with Kaiser Permanente and analyzing our supplier base

  • Triage incoming potential suppliers from our supplier registration portal

  • Respond to supplier queries from our supplier diversity mailbox

  • Assist with the development of our supplier management/development strategy

Description of Intern Responsibilities:

  • Background in economics, public policy, or a similar field

  • Ability to understand the how changes in one area (i.e., housing, education, etc.) impact other areas (i.e., job creation, wealth, health, etc.)

  • Strong analytical skills, good communication skills, research experience, and the desire to learn and make a valid contribution to the department are qualities we are looking for

Essential Functions:

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.

  • Report development and analytics.

  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.

  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a graduate program from an accredited university within the last year.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions.

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA or above

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.

Health Care Related MBA emphasis

Experience with the development of strategies that target diverse populations

Experience with community impact assessment as it relates to health care
