Kaiser Permanente EKG Technician II in Moreno Valley, California

Under general supervision instructs, prepares patients & performs cardio-diagnostic tests in the inpatient/outpatient setting. Performs various functions including paperwork, maintaining equipment & other related duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws

  • Instructs, prepares patients & performs varied diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to: EKG's, treadmills (in conjunction w/ an RN), Holter/Cardio-care hook-ups, monitoring of cardiac rehab patients (in conjunction w/ the Cardiac Rehab Coordinator), assists physicians w/ pacemaker monitoring/adjustment procedures, completes all paperwork relating to above delineated procedures as appropriate

  • Performs routine preventative maintenance & minor adjustment on cardio-diagnostic equipment

  • Maintains equipment & supplies

  • Scans EKG's for variance in established norms; notifying physician of same

  • Performs computer data entry & retrieval, minor computer maintenance

  • Responds to emergency situations, such as code blue, as assigned

  • Arranges & confirms appointments for cardio-diagnostic procedures as assigned

  • Assists w/ information gathering from cardiac rehab patients, as directed by the cardiac rehab coordinator/designee

  • Ensures cleanliness of assigned areas, proper functioning of equipment & stock of supplies

  • Provides safe & therapeutic environment for patients & staff in compliance w/ policy & procedure as delineated in the department Safety & Infection Control manuals

  • May train & orient assigned personnel as to equipment utilization/procedure, alerts appropriate personnel to difficulties requiring personal attention

  • Utilizes effective communication & interpersonal relationship skills when interacting w/ other members of the health care team & patients

  • Displays tact, cooperative & courteous behavior w/ the public, patients, & staff

  • Actively participates in education programs & staff meetings that are scheduled by the department

  • Assists members w/ direction, information on obtaining care, personal physician, etc

  • Adheres to all Department/Medical Center policies & procedures

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: Clerical duties (filing), telephone/fax correspondence, Xeroxing

  • Promotes, ensures, & improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent w/ the organization's philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations & quality service

  • Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months (1,000 hours) of hospital EKG Technician experience, including knowledge of various types of cardiac equipment including but not limited to EKG, Holter Monitors & Treadmill tests

  • Current BCLS required


  • Schedule to include all shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and floating within the established seniority section.
