Kaiser Permanente Manager, Preventive Medicine - Georgia Region in Atlanta, Georgia

Responsible for formulating, directing and managing the Preventive Medicine programs that impact Primary Care and Specialties/Acute & Urgent Care business units and ensures, HEDIS, STAR and CAHPS metrics are met. Exercises authority in developing objectives, standards, and control measures for program(s) that impact Influenza Campaigns, Vaccines for Children, Federal/ State immunization programs and Medication Adherence programs. Responsible to addresses emerging health issues, support local programs and clinical teams to achieve positive quality outcomes, exceed identified quality metrics, healthy communities, work to achieve health equity and eliminate health disparities. This individual will focus on the leading preventable risk factors to maximize team performance by working collaboratively with team members from diverse backgrounds and with diverse capabilities. Evaluates the quality outcomes through a process improvement approach and ensures clinical documentation aligns with established workflows.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for priority-setting, planning and policy development to support preventive medicine initiatives within clinical operations.

  • Performs all functions and exercises full authority necessary in administering the operations of the identified preventive medicine programs including Influenza Campaign, Vaccines for Children Georgia Registry of Immunization Transaction and Services (GRITS) and other programs that promote effective and cost efficient disease prevention and control.

  • Serves as the Operational Representative in Population Care Management, Quality committee meetings, Regulatory agencies and the Subject Matter Expert for the all Ambulatory Clinical Departments.

  • Participate in quality strategy and communicate recommendations that drive improved quality outcomes and proactive office metrics.

  • Oversees program specific working teams, delegation of deliverables, regular planning meetings, stakeholder postings and management of internal approval processes.

  • Functions as the Subject Matter Expert for Ambulatory Clinical Department, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) national quality indicators, HEDIS Quality Measures and Program Measures. Maintains up to date knowledge base related to National Quality indicator measures and reviews for new changes.

  • Interacts with Federal, State and local officials to ensure compliance to regulatory guidelines related to population care programs (Vaccine for Children immunization program).

  • Collaborates with physicians and medical office/ancillary leaders by implementing best practices, tools, processes and technology that supports quality target and outcomes.

  • Incorporates a variety of health concepts, practices, and procedures to improve quality metrics.

  • Responsible for preparation for regulatory inspections, program development and training/education of physicians, clinical staff and Medical office leaders.

  • Partners with biomedical, clinical vendors (Clintech) and others resources and software applications that promote the effective disease prevention program.

  • Performs monthly audits of the team's compliance with improvement processes.

  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written).

  • Responsible for developing monthly reports to Senior Directors for overall compliance with the program (Scorecard).

  • Responsible for delivering feedback in a timely matter that will assist operational leaders with their performance, management and action plans.

  • Analyze training needs, develops and administers instructional programs designed to optimize performance.

  • Gathers and analyzes data from various databases, vital statistics, hospital patient discharge data or other relevant health sources.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum eight (8) years of clinical quality improvement or healthcare related experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in health care administration, process improvement, clinical qualityOR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with care management programs for chronic conditions.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including databases, word-processing, and Excel spreadsheets.

  • Experience in electronic medical record documentation.

  • Experience in staff education with both nurses and physician audiences.

  • Knowledge of HEDIS specifications and methodology.

  • Knowledge of and experience with data collection and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten (10) years of Primary care nursing experience.

  • Master's degree in health care, process improvement or clinical quality.
