Kaiser Permanente Marriage Family Therapist Assistant - Chemical Dependency in Vacaville, California
Under the immediate supervision of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed Psychologist or board certified Psychiatrist. Interviews, assesses and evaluates members who present themselves for psychiatric evaluation; provides professional counseling and treatment with the goal of maximizing personal/familial functioning.
Essential Responsibilities: - Interviews members to assess nature and extent of member's psychiatric problem(s). Develops, implements and evaluates treatment approaches for members. This may include individual, marital, family, group and intensive therapeutic modalities. - Confers and consults with supervisor regarding member's progress and treatment and may consult with psychiatrist as well, if both are involved in member's care. - May provide appropriate support to member's family, including explanation of treatment, instructions in how to support treatment and interventions to increase acceptance of and adherence to treatment, at member's request. - Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of the member's treatment to include referral of the member and/or member's family to external resources, as appropriate. Participates in departmental program development, implementation and evaluation. - Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies. - Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have the authority to hire, fire or discipline.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Once hired as an assistant, an employee will be offered and must work a schedule that would accumulate at least half the required supervisory hours annually. Education - Master's degree in applied behavioral science required from an accredited college or university. License, Certification, Registration - N/A
Additional Requirements: - Once the assistant obtains the required supervised hours, the employee has two (2) years from that date to complete state licensure.
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience working in the field of Addiction Medicine/Chemical Dependency/Substance Abuse
Previous experience working in a Kaiser Chemical Dependency Program or Department of Psychiatry
Bilingual/Bi-Cultural (particularly Spanish-speaking)
