Title: RN - Employee Health Coordinator (Long-term, Temporary, Eligible for Benefits) Location: WA - Seattle-Seattle-Central Hospital Job Number: 172436
Note: This is a long-term temporary position, lasting up to 18-months; position will work up to 40 hours/wk and will be eligible for some benefits.
The RN – Employee Health Coordinator will:
Assists in development, implementation and monitoring of Employee Health (EH) Programs.
Provides clinical assessment, evaluation, and follow-up to employees and volunteers that is policy, protocol, or guideline based.
Assists in ongoing EH activities throughout the organization to meet all regulatory, licensing and accrediting requirements.
Coordinates with local health departments, Infection Prevention/Control, Human Resources, Risk Management and Safety programs. Principal Duties:
Implement and maintain disease monitoring and screening program for staff at risk of communicable disease exposure in a coordinated manner. Evaluates lab test results and uses independent judgement to requisition immunizations per routine physician standing orders and order labs per department EH standing orders based upon individual employee needs. Maintains accurate documentation: e.g. EH History and TB Risk Assessment forms. Assesses and evaluates employee and volunteer positive TB tests and provides referral management as needed.
Provides respiratory medical screening surveillance, latex allergy or other glove/product sensitivity assessment evaluation, and coordinates referral management. Develops Employee Health education programs for staff.
Serve as a clinical consultant to staff and managers regarding EH and safety issues: e.g., policy interpretation, immunization information, tuberculosis testing and results interpretation and follow-up management, work restrictions related to communicable disease exposure that is policy, protocol, or guideline-based.
Manages follow-up of occupational-related and communicable disease exposures to employees, volunteers, and contracted staff. Coordinates exposure follow-up with Infection Control.
Assists with policy and protocol development and implementation and policy issue resolution by coordinating with the Infection Control Committee. Uses current advisory recommendations and state and federal regulations in developing policies. Qualifications: Education: Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field Preferred : Master’s Degree in Occupational Health Nursing or related field; COHN
License, Certifications: Minimum: Current WA State RN License at time of hire Experience: Preferred: 3-years of experience in occupational health nursing
Knowledge & Skills; Minimum: Intermediate Working knowledge and ability to demonstrate comprehension of safety, health hazard recognition, evaluation and control, program management and development, epidemiology, microbiology, medical statistics, principles of adult education and written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of pertinent regulatory, accrediting and advisory body requirements including state, county, JCAHO, WISHA, and OSHA. Able to interact effectively with all levels of health care staff within GHC; local, county and state public health service workers; Department of Health officials, CDC staff and WISHA/OSHA staff. Computer skills to include keyboarding, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Critical thinking and phone triage skills.
Preferred: Understanding of quality assurance and improvement monitoring.
