The Kaiser Permanente Inpatient Pharmacy Technician performs functions that support the daily workflow of the inpatient pharmacy. The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician also ensures the timely and appropriate distribution of drug therapy in compliance with state and federal laws and in accordance with Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures.

Schedule is Mon-Sun (variable) from 5:00 AM to 11:30 PM. This is a variable shift and will come with a shift differential for late hours and weekend shifts.

Location is at our Central Medical Center located in Seattle's diverse Capitol Hill neighborhood. The Central Medical Center (201 16th Avenue East, Seattle, WA 98112) is served by Metro bus routes 8, 10, 43, and Sound Transit's Link Light Rail is only half a mile or 10 minutes away. Garage and surface parking lots are also available at a reduced daily parking rate. Qualifications: Education Minimum Education Requirements Vocational School/Certificate Program - Pharmacy Technician Knowledge/Skills Minimum Knowledge/Skills Require ments Basic or limited knowledge of Pharmacy law and its standards of practice. Basic or limited skill in compounding extemporaneous entities. Intermediate problem-solving skills to work with patients and other health care providers Advanced verbal and written communication skills Advanced customer service skills Advanced ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Intermediate ability to identify specified issues and bring to attention of pharmacist. Intermediate ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations, identify drug names and have knowledge of most common uses for pharmaceuticals Intermediate ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively Preferred Knowledge/Skills Advanced ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations, identify drug names and have knowledge of most common uses for pharmaceuticals Advanced ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively Advanced ability to compound sterile intravenous products including chemotherapy Knowledge of USP 797 guidelines

Experience Minimum Experience Requirements 1 year of experience working in a pharmacy practice environment using current technology Preferred Experience Hospital inpatient experience including a working knowledge of automated dispensing cabinets and experience compounding IVs.

License/Certifications Minimum License/Certifications Requirements At time of hire Washington State Board of Pharmacy Technician certification
