Kaiser Permanente Senior Consultant, Clinical Education in Oakland, California
The Permanente Federation Quality Department uses Clinical Education strategically to bring scientific knowledge to KP clinical practice. The department is expanding the tools and modalities to increase our impact on supporting practice change, and embracing new inter-disciplinary interventions. The Consultant partners with clinical content experts to develop the educational component of their implementation plan, which includes activities as diverse as online modules, journal clubs, in-person meetings, periodic reinforcement activities, publications, quality improvement projects, job aids, decision support. The consultant leads and manages ad-hoc teams to execute on the plan and evaluate impact. The consultant also fosters inter-regional transfer of material and grows inter-regional communities in select learning areas.
Essential Responsibilities: - Lead consultations with clinical content experts to advise and develop the educational component of their implementation plan. - Identifying skills / expertise / time commitment needed for each educational intervention and assembling the ad-hoc project team, primarily from CMI's Center for Clinical Information Services, supplemented with others, including temporary contractors, evaluators, or meeting planners when needed. - Project management of individual educational interventions, keeping teams on track. - As education expert, assist in development of infrastructure for delivering innovative educational interventions. - Accountable for execution success of individual educational components of an implementation plan. - Investigates opportunities for growth in services provided by Clinical Education. - In partnership with the Program Manager, Clinical Education, evaluates the impact of educational interventions and continuously improves Clinical Education services. - In partnership with the Program Manager, Clinical Education, fosters select on-going communities of learning. - Manages the Project Manager, Maintenance of Certification. Helps create synergy between region-directed MOC portfolio projects and inter-regional quality focus areas.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimumseven (7) years of progressive experience in education or program support, preferably in a health care setting. - Minimum one (1) year cumulative of facilitating meetings and project design. Education - Bachelor-s degree, preferably in healthcare- or education-related field. License, Certification, Registration - N/A.
Additional Requirements: - Experience managing a small team to execute on a project. - Experience designing and implementing intervention(s) to change organizational behavior, preferably in a health care setting.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in CME or educational development. - Experience with user-centered research or user-centered design. - Measurement and evaluation of program impact. - Prior experience working with Kaiser Permanente.
