Kaiser Permanente Manager, Emergency Business Services, Financial Counselor & Admitting in Honolulu, Hawaii
Coordinates business functions of Emergency Department registration, Financial Counselors, and Admitting, oversees gathering, computing, and recording of data for statistical reports and studies; analyzes data and reports recommendations; develops and/or implements policies and procedures to maximize patient satisfaction, revenue collection, and departmental efficiency with resources available; collaborates with department heads, physicians, and nursing administration to perpetuate optimal function of department; supervises assigned staff.
Essential Functions: - Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate. Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff; establishes and plans work priorities; organizes office operations; develops, plans, and supervises desk level procedures at point of service; maintains office records and files. - Heads department's problem solving and planning, procedures, protocols, interdepartmental operations/functions. Identifies, captures, and collects billable revenue; ensures policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements. Implements procedures to ensure proper accounting of patient services revenue and other revenue collected. Manages departmental budget and expenses. Serves as member of task force committees and business-related interdepartmental committees. - Oversees gathering, computing, compiling, and recording of data Emergency Department Business Services, Financial Counselors, and Admitting and other statistical reports and studies. Analyzes results of quality of service and other surveys; recommends improvements; develops, implements, and reports on plans/projects to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. - Receives and handles patient complaints and/or unusual occurrences.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum five (5) years of admitting, emergency business services, or related experience. - Minimum two (2) years of supervisory/lead experience. Education - Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field. License, Certification, Registration - N/A
Additional Requirements: - Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, oral communication, written communication, problem solving, quality management, results orientation, systems thinking, team building, and teamwork. - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in PC applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working 24-hour schedules. - Experience managing represented employee's (i.e. unions) - Knowledge of Kaiser Permanente systems. - Knowledge of healthcare regulation requirements. - Five (5) years experience managing hospital admitting, registration, and financial counseling departments preferred. - Experience managing union represented staff preferred. - Experience with Epic systems is a plus.
