Leads the professional development of clinical staff through the development of competencies, orientation, regional trainings, and other opportunities identified in collaboration with key stakeholders. Manages the placement of clinical students and introduction of new graduate nurse residencies. Supports professional practice advancement by providing continuing education (including credits), career advancement opportunities and role support, and other various professional development activities. Manages the daily operations of the KSMC Professional Development Department and the daily practice of the Professional Development Coordinator and Project Coordinator.

Essential Responsibilities: - Manages the day to day operations of the KSMC Professional Development Department including the inpatient eLearning system (Healthstream) and internal policy database. - Collaborates with regional clinical operations leaders to identify emerging and existing clinical practice trends and issues. Leads the planning and implementation of appropriate competences, orientations, and training to meet the clinical practice needs that reflect the NW Region's strategic plan as well as all regulatory, professional and accreditation requirements. - Develops and delivers high quality, cost effective educational programs with content that is evidence based, follows standards of care and practice, and is in alignment with Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures. Develops materials, education tactics, and programs that are based on adult learning principles and take into account the novice-to expert framework of skill development and knowledge acquisition. Implements instructional and curriculum design skills and assists others in instructional design. Coordinates, manages and assures continuum of education from orientation through annual required updates to include continuing education for nursing services. - Ensures competency is maintained for nursing staff through continuous monitoring, assessment, and development in partnership with Professional Development Specialists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nursing Directors, Nursing Managers, and Chief Nursing Officer. - Participates in and leads hospital, regional and national committees/councils that have impact on nursing practice or professional development. - Collaborates, facilitates, and leads student placements and new graduate nurse residency programs. Participates and represents KSMC in regional student placement consortium. Facilitates inpatient community career exploration, job shadows and internships for KSMC. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum eight (8) years of clinical nursing experience. - Minimum four (4) years of experience as a clinical educator. Education

  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field. License, Certification, Registration

  • Current Oregon RN license required at time of hire/transfer.

  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory/management experience overseeing a clinical education department.
  • Experience in managed care setting preferred.
  • Health care consulting experience preferred.
  • Experience nursing competency development strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a Magnet facility.
  • Understanding of nursing regulatory and scope of practice requirements strongly preferred.
