Kaiser Permanente Senior Accountant in Aurora, Colorado
Coordinates and directs the activities of lower level accountants engaged in a wide variety of accounting assignments, including general ledger entries, monthly and annual closing of financial transactions, reconciliation of asset and liability accounts and preparation of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) financial statements and reports. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with the Principles of Responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements, external laws and accreditation standards. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse.
Essential Functions: - Prepares and reviews journal entries for month end close as assigned, in a timely and accurate manner. - Prepares, reviews, and provide analysis on assigned statements and schedules for our monthly report of operations. - Reconciles and adjusts assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. - Researches and responds to inquiries concerning the recording of revenue and expense. - Prepares audit work papers as assigned. - Maintains knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Statutory Accounting Principles, and keeps abreast of changes that are inherent in accounting regulations for reporting and compliance with rules and regulations. - This includes (but not limited to) Public Accounting Oversight Board Auditing Guidelines, Financial Standards Accounting Board Guidelines, American Institute of CPA's Guidelines, Colorado State Accountancy Board Rules and Regulations. - Responsible for knowledge of Kaiser Accounting Policies as provided by Program Office Controller's office. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Equivalent experience may be considered. Education - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. - High School Education or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required. License, Certification, Registration - N/A
Additional Requirements: - Extensive knowledge and application of professional accounting principles, concepts, and techniques. - Strong experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Preferred Qualifications: - CPA preferred.
